Sociality, part II

Alrighty, well, today... let's see... I went to the 9 am Mass with Mom, Rose, and Joey. It was Fr. (Robert) Aaron Jackson's first Solemn High Mass here in St. Mary's. We stood in St. Jude's Plaza afterwards for first blessings... we waited an hour and there were still people waiting (probably 40 minutes' worth left when we got out of there)!!!

At 3 o'clock, Rose and I met a friend of mine and said the Rosary in the Grotto. It was really, really nice. Rather warm but we were in the shade and there was a slight breeze. There's something about nature that's very conducive to meditation, so it was quite lovely. From there, we went to the reception that was being held for Fr. Jackson in the Auditorium. I stood around and talked with classmates and friends until 5:15 or so....... home for dinner and off again at 7 to meet everybody at the park for volleyball. I never actually play volleyball (though I have before in my life which is how I know I don't like playing ;)) so I sat at a picnic table and watched everyone else play. :D That's fun enough for me!! Sadly, we were joined by some rather disreputable characters :/ so most of us broke it up and left just about 9 o'clock.

Back at home, we were all in more-or-less goofy moods and took a bunch of silly pictures... black mail material!! :P
Got to know a friend's sister a little better throughout the day... 'twas quite nice. (Hi Sara! :D I don't know if you ever read this blog but hi anyway. ;))

I'll post a couple pictures when I get them in the computer in a little bit~

This is my last day of being 18!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O :O :O :O :O Eeks, 19 sounds so old!!! :O :/ :O :/

'Til Later,

Sociality (is that a word? *wrinkles brow*)

Okay, so yesterday afternoon, about 4 o'clock, I go to a get-together at a friend's house. I take the hor d'oeurves I made the day before and my camera and I'm off... I get to their house just a couple minutes before the hour and am the first one there... something I never like. ;) After waiting at the door for a couple minutes, I really start to wonder what's up and where everyone is... I could have sworn the party was July 30 at 4 pm! Finally, the door is opened by my friend's oldest sister. The party had been moved to 6 pm ... I was the only one who hadn't been told!! :O So I turned right back around, got back in the car, hor d'oeurves, camera, and all and went back home for a couple hours! *lol* Mishaps make life so interesting, don't you think? ;)

At any rate, I returned at 6 and saw others arriving as well so I didn't feel so bad as I had a couple hours before. ;) Most of my high school graduating class and several other girls came. We visited for a little while and then had buffet style finger-food for dinner and dessert. Yummy!! Outside for a group picture about 7:30 and then inside for a couple of rounds of guesstures and a couple of rounds of 'telephone.' As people gradually departed, we continued just talking until there were about 5 of us left. I got home about 10:45... it was really an enjoyable time. I might be the next one to host - I may have a group of girls over to see the movie Wives and Daughters. :D

The picture below is the group shot taken last night...

...by the way, if you were wondering "Where's Waldo?"... I'm fourth from the right in a jean dress... :D

Sittin' Pretty ;)

I'm just having so much fun now that I know how to upload photos that I decided to upload this one even though it was taken over a month ago. It's my sister and I in our back yard. We bought the tops and made the matching dance skirts. They're lots of fun and oh! sooooo full!!! The 50's style cotton skirts seem to be back in style - just without the petticoats. ;) That kind of outfit just begs to be rollerskated in or danced with, don't you think?!

Had carry out dinner from Tully's tonight - "shrimp'n'chips" - and talked to a college friend from New York on the phone for an hour and a half or so. It'd been over a month since I had really talked to him so it was nice to catch up.

I'm going to a get-together with some friends from the ol' high school days ;) tomorrow... I'm looking forward to seeing all of them again. I don't know when the next time will be after this so I hope it's good. :D

I'll be NINETEEN on Monday!!! I'm kind of excited, yet I feel so old! :O I guess it happens to everyone though...

That's it in a nutshell! :)
Good night!

More recent photos...

I've already told y'all about the beautiful weather today (see below) so I won't reiterate... however, because it was such beautiful weather, we walked around up at the old Jesuit cemetery to say the Rosary. After Rosary, the sun was just beginning to sink and I got this shot of it through the trees that surround the graves of some of the Jesuit priests and brothers...

~

Oh, by the way, the counter at the bottom of the page is new this evening... I hope to see a lot of hits. :) ...Or at least consistent visits, okay?? :P

Beautiful weather today!!!

Today was about 75 and sunny. Cooler in the morning, of course, and reaching a mid-day high of 81. Thunderstorms yesterday had taken the humidity out of the air a great deal and left today feeling fresh and clean! It was the kind of day that makes you want to clean house and garden!! :) What glorious weather as a respite from the July heat! The above picture is my sister climbing a tree in our yard.

My sister and I posing under the Austrees in our yard. The day could not have been more gorgeous! I wish it had been 48 hours long!!

Lookin' Like Celebrities!

My brother fixed this one up... looks pretty nifty! :D

Adele and Sarah!

These are two of my very best friends the world over... Adele and Sarah!! And, yes, I do mean the world over - they live in Ireland. :) They are twins and just the most wonderful people ever! (Hello, Adele! I know you're probably going to read this sooner or later!) It was a joy to get the picture this morning in the mail (Thanks so much, Adele!!)...
They are what would be called (here in America anyway) "black Irish" - dark haired, fair skinned. :) Rose and I are blessed to be good friends with them. :)

This is a picture of Rose and I with them when they came to visit last summer. :) :)

What's new...

I suppose I should update you on any recent events, shouldn't I?

Well, the fact is that there's not a whole lot of event-ful news.
We went to Kansas City as a family on Saturday and stopped by Lindsey's new apartment where she was in the process of moving in! She's sharing an apartment with a friend of hers until her friend gets married later this fall...
We had watched Hitchcock's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" on Friday night and "Que Sera Sera" resounded throughout the house for the rest of the weekend! :D My sister Rose found it most amusing that in the movie Doris Day sings, "I tell them TENDERLY:" and then practically YELLS, "Que Sera Sera" in the hopes that Hank will hear her. (I hope I'm not giving anything away to anyone!!) So anyway, for the next couple of days, she was imitating Doris Day in that part of the song! :)
Yesterday, at Mass, we found out that Fr. Pazat and Fr. Fox are getting transferred! :( The identities of their successors are not yet general knowledge so *zips lips*... There's a going-away party for Frs. Pazat and Fox in the Auditorium on August 2. Fr. Pazat is going to Syracuse, NY and Fr. Fox is going to Mount Olivet, IL...
Last night, I got to talk to a friend of mine in New York for a little over an hour. It was quite nice to catch up as I haven't talked to her in at least a month! (I can't believe how the time flies by!!)
It's been really hot lately so we're watering the yard right now. At the moment, it's about 99 out though the heat index is higher than that. The last four or five days have hit or topped 100 degrees. You can bet that I've been staying inside all I can!! ;)

That's about it! Hope all o' y'all are doing well!!

Here Comes Trouble!

Midsummer Night's Post

It's not the feast of St. John the Baptist but it is just about the middle of my summer vacation! :)

Let's see... 4th of July was very nice - just a day at home with family, very relaxing and just nice! :D On July 7, there were those bombings in London. A couple days later, we picked up a lady at the airport who was visiting from England. She stayed until Thursday, the 14th... yesterday She was pretty nice though we didn't actually see a WHOLE lot of her. It was her second trip to the United States.
Dad has delivered 3 babies in the last 3 days. I made homemade honey-white bread today (YUM! YUM!) and went to Tully's (Irish Pub and Pizzeria - yeah, it's an odd combo but it works :) ) for dinner.

It's been quite a hectic week but nothing interesting enough to put into detail on (virtual) paper. The first from my graduating class (class of '03) to get married will have her wedding tomorrow. I'm going to that... Sunday, I have my second English-style horse-riding lesson!! Exciting but just the tiniest bit nerve-racking too!

Anyway, that's it in a nutshell. It's 10 'til midnight so I think I'll turn in pretty soon... TTYL~

Me again

Yikes, it's been what? two weeks since I posted? Wups. ;)

Well, last weekend I went up to Minnesota for Ordinations with my sister and a few friends. We got up there Friday night and left Sunday after brunch. It would've been nice to stay longer but it was good to go even as it was. :) I met some fantastic people and a had a very enjoyable time. Monday and most of Tuesday, I was home. Tuesday afternoon, I came into Kansas City to visit my sister - and that's where I am still. On Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, I did transcription for Angelus Press. I've also been workin' on my online Math course and trying to catch up on e-mails. And my blogs. ;)

Went swimming yesterday for the first time in probably a year. That was great. :D Then went to Half-Price Books, an awesome bookstore that I can easily spend hours in!! The other day, I spent $65 there and got six books, three movies and a CD. :) I love books and bookstores!!! We may go to more today.

There's not a lot to report; it's just been busy. But for those of you I haven't e-mailed yet, I AM alive and will try to write again soon. :P

B'bye~
